Focus Features Shares The Scoop

Focus Features, the studio behind Brokeback Mountain and The Constant Gardener, has decided they need a little British neuroses in their diet.

According to Hollywood Reporter, they have picked up the distribution rights to Woody Allen’s latest movie Scoop. The talented cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Hugh Jackman, and Ian McShane (“Deadwood”). The film is about a college newspaper journalist (Johansson) who finds a fantastic story while visiting friends in London. Along the way, she gets romantically entangled with a British aristocrat (Jackman).

Allen, who clearly has a school-boy crush on Scarlett after working together on Match Point, had this to say about the movie: "I had a great time shooting “Scoop”. I was over my head acting with Hugh Jackman and Ian McShane, who are both amazing, and of course Scarlett Johansson, who I knew was sexier than me and smarter, but she also turned out to be faster and funnier."

Woody recently said “Bon Voyage!” to his plans for shooting a movie in Paris, because his goals exceeded his budget. It looks like London has replaced New York as his current hot-stop for filming. Scoop is set for a release late this year.
