Ay, there’s the rub!
According to Production Weekly , a contemporary spin on “Hamlet” is coming to fruition titled Texas Lullaby. Steve Allisons’ script is centered in the small town of Lamarque, Texas. Imagine a slightly tweaked version of Hamlet, but with Texas barbeques and cowboy boots spiking up the mix.
The biggest deal is probably the cast, which has signed onto the project. John Malkovich, Ellen Barkin, Bruce Willis, and Alison Lohman are ready to gear up and hop on the Shakespearean saddle. Malcolm Venville is directing, best known as an international photographer and commercial director.
Murder, ghosts, mayhem and long speeches about symbolic suicide are on the way. Production is scheduled to begin mid-December in Texas.
