Malkovich Grabs The Mutant Chronicles

John Malkovich has played a wide range of characters, from a period-piece womanizer, retarded man who can’t play nice with the mice, and an actor with an open portal leading into his brain. Needless to say, it’s no surprise his next role is a bit offbeat.

According to Hollywood Reporter, he has signed on to the sci-fi action thriller The Mutant Chronicles, opposite actor Thomas Jane. The movie is based on a popular role-playing board game.

Malkovich will play the part of Constantine, a 23rd century corporate overload, who runs a UN-style group of four corporation-run countries. Just like every other country, they have gone a bit overboard with pillaging Earth’s resources. When a raiding army of “NecroMutants” fights a battle against humans for the little that is left, Constantine considers destroying the planet and freeing some of its people, rather than let it be overtaken.

The film is scheduled to start filming in London this June.
