It’s Batman Day, with that in mind it would seem only suitable that we have news for those of you eager to see The Caped Crusader go head to head with The Man of Steel in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Ever since the most recent trailer for the film was released at San Diego Comic-Con, fans have been clamoring for more. Now, we may have just learned when we will get it.
According to Heroic Hollywood, two separate teasers will premiere air on October 26. One will air during a commercial break for CBS’ Supergirl, and center around Superman’s role in the upcoming film. The other teaser will air during a commercial break for Gotham on FOX, and revolve around – you guessed it – Batman. Each of these trailers would run approximately one minute, providing just enough of the film to help maintain the level of excitement that has persisted ever since 2013.
The report also indicates that after these two teasers, a new theatrical trailer for the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will premiere sometime during November – which would keep with the Warner Bros. current trend of keeping a roughly a three to four month gap between trailer releases.
We should most certainly take these rumors with a grain of salt, because they are just that: rumors. However, such a decision would make absolutely perfect sense of Warner Bros. marketing team. The first teaser released for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice that came out all the way back in April utilized a similar tactic – starting with the focus on Superman, then giving Batman an equal amount of screen time.
Batman and Superman are two of the biggest superheroes in the world, releasing the teasers in this way gives each character equal airtime and does not create a sense that the film prioritizes one character over another. This is something Marvel has been guilty of recently – showcasing Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man considerably more than others whenever The Avengers team-up.
As exciting as all of this is, it still doesn’t amount to the level of anticipation that Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has created in even the most casual superhero fan. If these rumors turn out to be true, then we can most certainly expect the viewership of Gotham and Supergirl to reach record numbers on October 26. As we’re sure you already know, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
