None of us ever really doubted that M. Night Shyamalan is a raging egomaniac, but the proof is there, if we need it, with his planned series of three horror movies. Even though he'll just be producing them, leaving the writing and directing to others, they'll be called The Night Chronicles. Get it! Because of darkness and his name and... oh yeah, he just named a series of three movies after himself.
Anyway, Shyamalan has recruited two more people for his ego adventure. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that John and Drew Dowdle, the team behind last weekend's Quarantine, will write and direct the first project. No details about it yet, but I'd imagine some amount of straight-up horror will be involved. I actually like the idea of Shyamalan moving into straight horror, given that the well has run dry on his trick endings, but since he's just producing here I doubt it'll make much difference. At least it'll keep him busy enough that he won't pull The Happening 2 on us.
