Panther Delayed

My life is really rough right now. With two months off (hmm, can you guess my real job?), I can either hang out at The CB Forums or watch TV. I’m sure there are other things to do but I’m kinda lazy today. Anyway, while watching the E! channel earlier I actually learned something very important: 2005 is now officially Pink Panther free.

I’m not going to reiterate how much Steve Martin’s version of Inspector Clousseau is going to suck. If you want to read about that, click here , here or here. I’m pretty sure it’s a scientific fact that this movie has no chance of being good. In fact the studio basically said this when they pushed Panther back from an August 2005 release until February 2006. August is money time. February is the domain of Josh Hartnett.

Studio people, however, are much smarter than us. Instead of saying “Oh my God this is terrible,” they say cute things like this in a press release: "With the recent acquisition of MGM, we wanted to give our marketing department the time and opportunity to launch this very important franchise," Sony Pictures Releasing president Rory Bruer said. "We've seen the movie, and we really love this film. It's a franchise we believe in and are really excited about, and Steve Martin is great as Clouseau." Unconfirmed reports have lightning striking Mr. Bruer dead seconds later.

Unless they plan on re-shoots, I would just release it on the original date. Time will not stop this abomination from sucking. Delays didn’t work for Son of Mask ya know!
