Two days ago we picked up on some rumors that George Clooney, he of the now-dead Ocean's franchise, was interested in picking up as Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan character, guaranteeing himself a few high-budget sequels in the future. Turns out, that wasn't just idle talk-- Anne Thompson is reporting that Paramount is actively awaiting the first draft of a new screenplay called Untitled Tom Clancy Project. And yes, it's a Jack Ryan story.

Is anyone interested in seeing more stories along the lines of The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games? And is Clooney actually the guy to bring them to life? Perhaps the intent of the screenplay will give us some clues. If we're meeting Ryan just out of CIA training, then sorry Clooney, you'll have to fight Harrison Ford for the Indiana Jones role or something.
