After directing last year's Salt, starring Angelina Jolie, Phillip Noyce began looking for something different. He didn't want to make the same film over and over again, and instead decided he wanted to branch out. In fact, while he was originally going to direct Hunter Killer, a submarine thriller, for Relativity Media, he decided to drop out for that exact reason. Needless to say, eyes were focusing on Noyce to see what kind of thing he would do next. Earlier this month the director signed on for the romantic drama Timeless with Liam Hemsworth, and now he's found another "Not-Salt" project.

According to Variety, the Australian filmmaker is now attached to helm The Arrangement, based on a script by Brian Tucker. The main character is a married woman who agrees to spend three days with a wealthy man "in exchange for a loan" and then must choose between him and the man she is espoused to. The project is being set up at Mandate Pictures, but does not yet have a start date, meaning that Noyce could do something before the project starts production (including the aforementioned Timeless). Most recently Noyce directed two episodes of the television show Revenge, including the pilot.

The news story calls The Arrangement an original script, but I must admit that I'm having a hard time differentiating between its plot and the idea behind Indecent Proposal. While it may have been a box office hit, even it's cast of Robert Redford, Woody Harrelson and Demi Moore couldn't save it from being a critical dud. It will be interesting to see if this movie can have more success with the same premise.
