Ray Wise Added To The X-Men: First Class Cast

Just a few months ago we couldn't go a week without posting casting news for Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class. But with the film already deep in production, we assumed that the casting process was finally over and that all of the parts had been put in their proper place. Apparently, we all missed one.

IGN has learned that Ray Wise of Twin Peaks fame has joined the cast of the prequel which already stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, January Jones, Jennifer Lawrence and a host of other names. In the film, Wise will play the Secretary of State of the United States and is set to head over to England in the next couple of weeks to film his scenes. The film, one of many superhero films scheduled to be released next summer, currently has a June 3 release date.

Is anyone out there going to argue with this casting choice? Wise is great at being intense and looking good in a sharp suit, so what better role could there be for him than Secretary of State? I'd say that President Obama should recruit him, but Wise's smile can look so evil at times that I'm not sure any countries would ever trust us again.
