Rihanna Cast In Fast And Furious 6?

In a couple of weeks, those who see Battleship will have the opportunity to see singer Rihanna's acting debut. Will the Peter Berg directed action film be just the first of many feature projects for the artist? That remains to be seen, but from what's being reported, her next film role may already be lined up, and it's a big one.

The Sun is reporting that Rihanna is going to play the villain the sixth Fast and Furious film.

A source said: “Rihanna impressed with her acting debut in Battleship. Writers think she’ll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn’t take any prisoners — just like her in real life.

Fast and Furious 6 is expected to begin production in May, with shooting to take place in London and other areas of Europe. The U.K. tabloid doesn't specify whether the star is just in talks or if her part in the sequel is locked down at this point, so we might want to file this under rumor until more information is known. If it's confirmed or close to it, the "We Found Love" singer joins Gina Carano among the recently cast females in the sequel, which stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson.

Given that May is just a day away, it seems likely that they'll be looking to firm up the cast soon enough. Not having seen Battleship yet, it's hard to say if Rihanna is the right person for the job, but it certainly would be an interesting bit of casting news nonetheless. We'll post an update if we hear anything new on this.

In the meantime, those who want to see how Rihanna performs as an actor have only to wait until May 18 when Battleship hits theaters.
