See Marsden And Diaz Examine Richard Kelly's Box

I have no idea how Richard Kelly is planning on making a successful movie out of the short story “The Box,” a story that doesn’t seem long enough for a feature picture, and seems too familiar to most people to have any appeal. Still, the movie has stopped filming and is coming soon.

USA Today got their hands on an image from the movie, featuring James Marsden and Cameron Diaz sitting at a table looking at “the box,” a mysterious item that will deliver a great deal of money of they open it and press the button found there, but at the price of someone’s life. There’s not much to the picture, but that’s because there’s not much to the story.

Or is there more to this story than most of us know? Kelly talks about filming at a NASA wind tunnel, something that definitely wasn’t in Richard Matheson’s original short story “Button, Button” or alternate versions of the story I’ve read by other sci-fi authors. Perhaps Kelly is bringing something unique to his version of the story after all. I guess we’ll have to wait until the picture hits theaters to know for certain.
