Watch Chris Pratt And Jimmy Buffett Play Margaritaville At The Jurassic World Premiere

This weekend, Jurassic World is poised to devour the competition at the box office with projections topping $100 million. That’s serious money, and running for your life from rampaging dinosaurs is serious business, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know how to have a good time, especially when Chris Pratt and Jimmy Buffett are involved. The duo took to the stage to sing Buffett’s beloved tune, "Margaritaville," at the Jurassic World premiere, and, well, take a look for yourself.

There is product placement all over the movie from start to finish, and one of the big sponsors is Margaritaville, Buffett’s chain of hotels, resorts, and restaurants. So this isn’t some random connection, like they just decided to get Jimmy Buffett to play the premiere. Check out the performance in this video from the fine folks at Just Jared.

The plot of Jurassic World revolves around the titular theme park, which, having opened in the 22 years since the events of the first film, has become the most popular tourist destination in the world. Like any attraction of this sort, there are all kinds of shops and restaurants and places to eat and drink and spend money. After gawking at dinosaurs all day you can hit up Starbucks, stay at a Hilton, and talk on your Verizon phone. Or, if you’re so inclined, you can stop off at a Margaritaville for a bite to eat and a frosty adult beverage. Even Parrotheads want to gawk at dinosaurs, apparently this marketing is a two way street as you get Jurassic World-themed items at the restaurants.

As you probably imagined, this tourist paradise doesn’t last too long. One of the dinosaurs, a vicious new genetic hybrid named Indominus Rex, escapes and wreaks havoc all over the remote island resort. Not to give too much away, but this particular member of the Margaritaville franchise does not escape unscathed. In fact, it’s in dire need of some serious renovation by the end of the film.

This is also far from the first time that we’ve seen Chris Pratt on stage in a musical capacity. His tenure as loveable goof Andy Dwyer on NBC’s sitcom Parks & Recreation was full of performances as he kicked out jams like "Sex Hair" and "5000 Candles in the Wind." For another view of the Pratt/Buffett duet, which also featured producer Frank Marshall on guitar, check this video from the youngest member of Jurassic World’s core cast, Ty Simpkins.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow, who also co-wrote the script with writing partner Derek Connolly, Jurassic World, the fourth film in the franchise, is set to storm theaters this weekend. Maybe not a perfect movie, it’s a pretty good time (read our review here), and definitely one to check out if you want to see some giant dinosaur mayhem. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to see that?
