Not only did he do what seemed impossible—balancing the character arcs of six very distinct superheroes—he also delivered an invigorating cinematic event that paid tribute to comic book nerds without falling into hokey fan service.
One of the best geeky moments was the revelation that the formerly stoic Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) is deep down a fanboy. When Coulson lost his trademark cool to ask Captain America to autograph his treasured vintage trading cards, it was clear he was a mirror to the countless audience members who know well the burning thrill of geeking out. And coming soon, the specialty shop eFX will be giving the chance for Avengers devotees to own their fandom in a new form by offering special edition Captain America trading cards, with or without the blood applied by the manipulative Nick Fury.
