The Character Who May Connect Suicide Squad To Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

In the new world of cinematic universe filmmaking, it is important, not only to tell your story but also to connect that story to the other stories being told. This means that part of the job of Suicide Squad is to make the audience understand how it fits into the same world as the previous entry, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The easiest way to do that is to actually have characters cross over between the two films. We know that Batman will be making an appearance in Suicide Squad, but now it appears that he may not be alone. Lex Luthor may also be making an appearance, as he's on his way to Arkham Asylum.

A potential cameo by Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor in Suicide Squad has been a rumored thing for awhile now, and some new information regarding that extended cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has possibly given us some details about how that cameo could happen. According to Comic Book Movie.com, the extended edition contains a longer version of the final scene between Batman and Lex Luthor. In the sequence, Luthor confesses that he knows who Batman really is. In addition, Lex thinks he's put one over on the dark knight because he's far too crazy to stand trial and go to prison. Batman wins the exchange, however, as he's apparently made arrangements to have Luthor sent to Arkham Asylum, something Lex doesn't find funny.

Suicide Squad

If Lex Luthor is on his way to Arkham Asylum, does that mean he'll run into The Joker, or possibly other characters from Suicide Squad? Traditionally, Arkham is not the base of operations for the members of Task Force X, but that doesn't mean the movie won't change things up a bit. In addition, The Joker isn't actually a member of the team, and if he's locked away at any point in the movie, it would almost certainly be in Arkham. Having the Joker and Lex Luthor cross paths sounds like all sorts of bad for the heroes of DCEU, but it would probably be a lot of fun for the audience. Maybe the two will have some sort of competition to see which one is the bigger lunatic?

Whatever the long-term DCEU plans are for Lex Luthor or The Joker, a scene between the two of them would go a long way to giving us an idea. Based on the one released deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we expect Lex Luthor to continue to be an antagonist in the upcoming Justice League movies, as he's the one responsible for bringing Steppenwolf to Earth. We also know that Warner Bros. is very big on Jared Leto's Joker, so it's unlikely they will wait too long before using him again.
