When a studio releases a major summer movie, there are a few things you can be sure will follow. The porn parody is one of them; they really can't help themselves. Even though Tarzan probably won't set the box office on fire this summer, that doesn't mean it's not still the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the buzz The Legend of Tarzan receives in order to promote the porn parody version. The trailer has been released and if it does anything right, it makes the production value of the wide release film look better by comparison.
So this version of Tarzan follows the crew of a sailboat who nearly drown after their boat catches fire, and Tarzan arrives in order to save them from drowning. From there it's not exactly clear what happens. Other than sex, of course, we're pretty sure that happens.
According to the description on YouTube, Tarzan: A Gay XXX Parody was filmed in Costa Rica. This is actually shocking as the jungle here looks about as artificial as anything in the trailer. In that regard, the porn parody has more in common with The Legend of Tarzan than we would have suspected. While the new film starring Alexander Skarsgard is a passable adventure story, the digital effects are pretty weak. This version obviously doesn't have the budget for effects; it also doesn't have a budget for much of anything. But the porn parody has a snake in it that might actually be real, so there's that.
Porn parodies, regardless of their orientation, are just one of those things that follow any film that gets mainstream attention. They follow right along with "mockbusters", those straight to DVD films that have titles similar to that movie you saw in theaters, but have no budgets, no bankable stars, and no script to speak of. Both of these things usually have very little to do with the actual film that they're trying to reference. As they look to get released right alongside their big budget counterpart, that means that they have to go into production before the main title is released, meaning that their story isn't actually based on the story of the major release.
While The Legend of Tarzan isn't getting much love from critics, we're pretty sure the acting and plot are significantly better there than they are with the porn parody. Also, if it matters, the big budget version also has Margot Robbie. We're guessing there aren't any women at all in this version. Just a guess.
