Star Wars: The Last Jedi Is Teasing The Biggest Reveal In The Franchise's History

The Last Jedi Poster

After a brief detour to explore the days leading up to A New Hope in last year's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the Star Wars franchise will soon get back on track with Rian Johnson's upcoming sequel. Despite our anticipation for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we still know very little about the film's overall narrative. The long-awaited movie has remained firmly under wraps for the better part of two years, but a new Japanese poster for the story suggests that we're due for the most shocking twist in Star Wars history. Translated, the poster states:

The Most Shocking Truth In Star Wars History Will Soon Be Revealed!

As far as teases go, that caption on the Japanese poster for Star Wars: The Last Jedi (courtesy of Starwarsnews.net) has us pretty excited. It's far from surprising to see that a poster is trying to get audiences hyped up for the release of a Star Wars movie, but the very precise wording makes this poster seem unique. The franchise from the galaxy far, far away has become iconic for creating one of the most famous movie twists of all time (spoiler alert: Darth Vader is Luke's father!), and this poster claims that the reveal in the upcoming film will top that.

This naturally raises questions about what could happen in The Last Jedi to make the reveal so "shocking." In all honesty, at this point, it could be anything. From the actual identity of Supreme Leader Snoke to the reveal of Rey's real parentage, so many new elements were introduced into the Star Wars mythos during the events of The Force Awakens that the opportunities for full left turns in this universe have become endless.

The rest of the information conveyed on the poster falls in line with what we have come to expect from The Last Jedi's story. Our favorite characters continue to deal with the fallout of The Force Awakens (particularly the death of Han Solo), and Rey has only just begun to tap into her potential power over The Force. After a retread of classic Star Wars in the last film, the stage is set for something very different -- and very exciting.
