New Justice League Trailer Drops Best Look Yet At Steppenwolf

After being teased in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - The Ultimate Edition, Steppenwolf is only three weeks away from making his full cinematic debut in Justice League. Played by Game of Thrones actor Ciaran Hinds, this DC films version of Steppenwolf has already appeared in a few Justice League previews providing sinister narration and and attacking our principal heroes, but fans have yet to officially get a clear look at the mighty general from Apokolips. The latest Justice League trailer has rectified this somewhat, as we finally get to see Steppenwolf up close and holding still.

Justice League marketing is ramping up as we count down the days until its release, and in case the previous four trailers weren't enough for you, a Chinese trailer dropped today (via Trailer Track) that's packed with new footage. Regarding Steppenwolf, he can be seen early on threatening someone. When the uniformed man tells the alien warrior that they have families, Steppenwolf questions why so many people have been telling him this. The line exemplifies how callous he is, which is to be expected of someone who serves Darkseid. And while it would have been nice to fully see his face, as you can tell from the screenshot below, this version of Steppenwolf looks significantly more alien than his comic book counterpart.

Justice League Steppenwolf

Along with this up-close time with Steppenwolf, this Chinese Justice League trailer also sprinkles in some shots of the main antagonist swinging his mighty axe and his forces causing mass destruction, both in the present day and the flashback battle (the latter of which, according to Wonder Woman, took place before she was born). Lex Luthor was seen communicating with Steppenwolf in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - The Ultimate Edition about the Mother Boxes before he was captured by the authorities, and by the time Justice League unfolds, the Apokoliptan general will arrive with his Parademon army to retrieve these alien supercomputers and lay waste to our world. However, while he is fulfilling Darksied's wishes during the movie, Steppenwolf will also be trying to escape enslavement from his nephew.

There are plenty of other non-Steppenwolf Justice League moments to soak in from this new trailer too, including Wonder Woman tossing an explosive suitcase into the air and Batman quipping about Aquaman bringing a pitchfork into battle. Thanks to the Knightmare he experienced during Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Batman had a feeling he would need to gather a team of metahuman together to fight an unknown threat. Now that Steppenwolf is here, only Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg stand a chance of thwarting this invasion and serving as a beacon of hope in Superman's (temporary) absence.

Justice League opens in theaters on November 17, and you can now pre-order tickets. To find out what the year's other remaining theatrical releases are, scene through our 2017 premiere guide.
