Looks Like Danny Ocean Is Either Dead Or Faking In New Ocean's Eight First Look

It's been 10 years since we last revisited the Ocean's series, but we'll soon be back in this world of heists and capers when Ocean's 8 arrives next year. Rather than hang out with Danny Ocean and the old gang again, this time we'll be focusing on Danny's sister, Debbie, and her own crew of thieves. However, Ocean's 8 will still have some ties to the original trilogy, and as you can see in this screenshot from the trailer tease, Danny Boy is either dead or has faked his death.

Sandra Bullock in Ocean's 8

As far as we know, George Clooney will not be appearing in Ocean's 8, but evidently the movie didn't plan on not at least referencing his character. We already knew that Danny and Debbie were estranged, but as you can see in the above image, evidently they never reconciled, as Debbie, played by Sandra Bullock, is having a drink while sitting in front of his spot at the mausoleum. I guess in the Ocean household, that's how one pays their respects to the recently deceased. We don't know what yet what the circumstances of Danny's death are, only that he died relatively shortly before Ocean's 8 begins, i.e. sometime in 2018.

Of course, this is Danny Ocean we're talking about. The man has pulled a lot of fast ones over the years, and even though it's been a decade since the events of Ocean's 13, we wouldn't be surprised if he's managed to piss off more powerful figures in the criminal underworld. So rather than be killed off by those vindictive parties, Danny decided to fake his death and go into hiding. If this is what happened, it might be a fun surprise if at the end of Ocean's 8, Danny shows up and clues Debbie on what he's done. However, even if George Clooney didn't shoot a secret cameo, Ocean's 8 won't be without any folks from the Ocean's trilogy, as Matt Damon and Carl Reiner will reprise Linus Caldwell and Saul Bloom, respectively.
