Netflix's smash hit, Stranger Things, is one of the most buzzworthy shows this side of Game of Thrones, and has been a huge boon for the streaming service. In addition to being one of Netflix's biggest brands, the series has been a rocket ship to the stars involved in it. More and more you will be seeing faces from Stranger Things in other TV shows and movies as their careers begin to take off. Perhaps no Stranger Things star has been more of a breakout than Millie Bobby Brown. Now the actress, who plays Eleven on the series, is getting her own franchise. Millie Bobby Brown has struck a deal with Legendary Pictures to and star in a series of films based on the Enola Holmes Mysteries novels.

According to Deadline, Millie Bobby Brown already had a working relationship with Legendary Pictures after starring in Godzilla: King of Monsters, which is currently in post-production. Now she will move from one gigantic monster movie to her own franchise based on a series of children's novels. The Enola Holmes Mysteries novels, started in 2006, are written by Nancy Springer and span six novels. The series follows Enola Holmes, the much younger sister of the more famous Sherlock Holmes and their brother Mycroft. Millie Bobby Brown will portray the younger Holmes who inherits the family knack for detective work as she sets out to solve mysteries of her own.

I'm unfamiliar with these novels, but this sounds like a fun vehicle for Millie Bobby Brown to take part in. This should also give her a chance to show what she can do beyond the character of Eleven on a much larger scale. I especially like that even though these are novels for a younger audience, the story is completely different than what we have come to expect from that classification. This is not some post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure, but something much different. Off the top of my head, I can't think of too many recent cinematic mysteries geared at a younger audience, so hopefully this franchise will give us something fresh and new. Sherlock Holmes is a part of these novels, but I'm guessing this film will just be another in the myriad of Holmes' multiverses, so probably no Robert Downey Jr. or Benedict Cumberbatch appearances.

It was previously reported that Millie Bobby Brown was being eyed for another literary adaptation, the semi-reboot of the Chronicles of Narnia series, but there's no word on if that is still the case. While her role in Godzilla 2 will likely be awesome, getting her own franchise is a huge deal. I don't know what the fandom is like for these books or how well Millie Bobby Brown fits the role, but it definitely sounds like something different that will test just how much audiences love the young actress. Millie Bobby Brown isn't the only one who is suddenly popping up all over the place. We saw her Stranger Things co-star Finn Wolfhard in the smash horror adaptation IT and David Harbour, who almost gave up acting, will now be starring in the Hellboy reboot.

It's not everyday that you hear about a new franchise that isn't based on a comic book and isn't a reboot of an existing property. This is cool to hear and hopefully this will be a franchise that we look forward to and get excited about in the future. There is currently no release date scheduled for the first film, but Millie Bobby Brown is expected to reprise her role as Eleven on Stranger Things when that series returns either this year or next.
