What Chris Evans Thinks Of Captain America’s Beard In Infinity War

We're coming up on a very exciting time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Because after Ryan Coogler's highly anticipated Black Panther, the next film in the massive shared universe will be one of the biggest movies in history. Avengers: Infinity War will unite almost every major character in the shared universe in an epic battle against Thanos and a possible apocalyptic event. In addition to juggling the myriad characters, The Russo Brothers are also diving into new territory in regards to Captain America's appearance. The first trailer and promo images show Cap rocking a trendy new beard, and Chris Evans recently revealed why he loves the new look for his signature character.

I think it's cool! I think it kind of changes things up. We've seen Cap the same way so many times. He's such a throwback, he's such a classic. It kind of gives him a little bit of a modern vibe.

While Captain America's new look could just mean he's getting trendier and shopping at whole foods, Chris Evans has used it as a motivator for his performance. His comments on the Thirst Aid Kit podcast tease his excitement for what's to come in Infinity War and beyond. His facial hair shows that Cap has fallen from grace a bit, and seems to finally understand the complicated world he's living in.

Indeed, Steve Rogers had a pretty hard go in Captain America: Civil War. After disagreeing with Tony Stark about both The Sokovia Accords and how Bucky should be handled, the MCU's heroes engaged in an epic battle against each other. Ultimately Captain America abandoned his shield due to his conflict with Tony, becoming a fugitive in the process. And while he would eventually break his buddies out of Seagate, it seems that he left the world of superheroics and team leading behind him.

It should be fascinating to catch up with Steve Rogers and the rest of Team Cap once Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters. It's currently unclear where the group is hiding or what activity they could be up to, although Steve seemed to indicate that they'd return once the world needed them. There's no better excuse for returning to the fold and mending fences than Thanos' attempt at assembling the Infinity Stones and having unlimited power, so smart money says that Cap will be picking up his signature weapon again in the near future.

With Chris Evans' contract up at the end of the untitled Avengers 4 movie, the next two installments could have major implications for the character. Many believe he could be killed off during his next few appearances, although Evans has also expressed interest in returning to the role. We'll just have to wait and see how it all goes down, and which Avengers make it out of the conflict alive.

Chris Evans will return to Steve Rogers in Avengers: Infinity War, hitting theaters on May 4th, 2018. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your trips to the movies this year.
