WARNING: Spoilers for Deadpool 2 to follow.
It seems like Deadpool 2 just hit theaters, but with the theatrical window for movies ever narrowing, the Merc with a Mouth will soon be arriving on home video. The sequel film upped the ante, arguably delivering a better film than the original, with more heroes, heart and humor. In keeping with that trend, we'll be getting even more Deadpool 2 for its home video release. Deadpool 2 will be hitting Digital on August 7th and Blu-ray on August 21st with a Super Duper Cut. Ryan Reynolds made the announcement, which maintained the series' tongue-in-cheek marketing. Check it out below:
Naturally the announcement on Ryan Reynolds' Twitter continues the film's brilliant, satirical and faux-serious marketing by playing Celine Dion's song from the film over the video for a release that will include, what is officially titled as, the Deadpool 2 Super Duper [email protected]%!#& Cut. How appropriate. What [email protected]%!#& means is anyone's guess, but I imagine you probably couldn't say it in an MCU movie. The home video release of the film promises to be longer, actionier and spandexier, which begs the question, does spandexier mean there will be more spandex in the Super Duper Cut of Deadpool 2, or just that the existing spandex will be tighter?
So what exactly makes this cut Super Duper? The Super Duper Cut of Deadpool 2 will give you more D for your dollar with 15 more minutes of jokes and action. CinemaBlend's own Eric Eisenberg previously spoke to Deadpool 2 director David Leitch and learned that among the things that will be included in the extended cut of the film are a montage of Deadpool trying to kill himself in various ways, as well as more of Zasie Beetz's Domino. It sounds like there might also be an extended scene in the X-Mansion. The Super Duper Cut will also include alternate lines for some of the film's jokes and extended takes. That's just the extended cut, though. We've also learned the home video release of Deadpool 2 will have a slew of bonus features, including a gag reel, secrets and Easter eggs, and something called "Chess with Omega Red."
Extended cuts and director's cuts are always intriguing, simply because they allow us the opportunity to spend more time with characters we love in fascinating worlds. Deadpool 2 is already highly rewatchable, so I can't wait to see what sort of hilarity and action they've packed into this Super Duper Cut. This is especially exciting since the original Deadpool did not get an extended cut like this.
The Deadpool 2 Super Duper [email protected]%!#& Cut will have its world premiere on Saturday, July 21st at the Horton Grand Theatre during San Diego Comic Con. Deadpool 2 arrives on Digital HD on August 7th and on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD on August 21st.
