Of all the badass characters played by Sylvester Stallone, from Rocky Balboa to Barney Ross to Judge Dredd (eh, maybe), the most badass is easily John Rambo. The Vietnam veteran is a one man army, a survivalist who can kill his enemies with a knife, a bow, or his bare hands. Becoming this brutal warrior isn't just something you roll out of bed and do though; it takes hard work. So as Stallone prepares to take on one of his most iconic roles once again in Rambo 5, the action legend is putting in the work to get in shape. You can check out his workout and feel motivated below:
Doing 250lb. tire flips... not bad for a guy in his 70s. This is a major back and lower body workout, so, as if there was any doubt, John Rambo does not skip leg day. You can tell how pumped Sylvester Stallone is in this Instagram video too, which is awesome to see. This is great, because a few years back the actor seemed to rule out Rambo 5 because he was feeling his age. Clearly, though, he is reinvigorated to lift heavy things as he preps to start shooting in September. Sylvester Stallone's physique has been a huge part of his career, and his success, but it isn't magic. It takes a lot of time and effort, and that's what we see here.
As always, the Italian Stallion is super motivating too, delivering some inspiring words along with the video - noting that you can feel younger than your years if you stay healthy and just keep exercising. And given his career and the roles he's doing at his age, Sylvester Stallone isn't just preaching this; he's practicing it. If that doesn't make you want to hit the gym, I don't know what will.
Rambo will need to be in shape for his fifth film. He's faced off with enemies all over the world over the course of this 36-year old franchise, and this time he'll be fighting closer to home against the Mexican drug cartels. Rumors have persisted about the movie in the decade since the release of Rambo, so with Sylvester Stallone in preparation mode, we can finally get excited for it. John Rambo once again goes to war in Rambo 5, scheduled for release in fall 2019.
Before Rambo returns to deal out savage justice to the brutal cartels, Sylvester Stallone will be returning to his most iconic character, Rocky Balboa, this fall in Creed II. This time, Rocky will help Adonis Creed as he takes on the son of his Rocky IV opponent, Ivan Drago. Creed II punches its way into theaters on November 21st.
