First Look At Idris Elba In Hobbs And Shaw

The Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw already has two big stars in the two title charcters, but the movie added a third when it was revealed that Idris Elba would be joining the party as the film's villain. Now, the Rock has shared a first look at the character, and shared a few details about exactly who he is. Meet Brixton.

The Rock's Instagram showing Idris Elba, with henchmen, aiming guns toward the camera

The black and white image puts Brixton front and center, aiming a gun toward something or somebody in the position near the camera. He's flanked by three similarly dressed henchmen, also with guns drawn. While the henchmen are wearing helmets, Idris Elba is not, so you can see his pretty face.

They appear to be on a high floor of a high rise building where some sort of action has already gone down. There's the body of a woman on the ground behind Elba. Clearly, whatever has been going on here is not good.

Idris Elba looks like a badass pretty much all of the time, but he takes things to another level here. This is clearly a highly trained squad that's used to getting whatever they want. I can't wait to see what happens in the movie following this moment.

Not to oversell things, but Dwayne Johnson literally promises the "showdown of all showdowns" when Hobbs and Shaw hits theaters next year. Based on this image, however, he might not be wrong. Brixton has his own minions and everything. He's going to be a force to be reckoned with.

The Rock's Instagram post says Brixton is "undefeated" so, while we still don't really know who the character is, or what his objectivce in the movie will be, it seems that he has never failed to obtain his goal. Of course, he's probably never had a duo like Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham standing in his way. The post also uses a hastag to refer to Brixton as The Consequence Agent. An odd nickname, but one I'm sure we'll learn the meaning of eventually.

While the newest Fast and Furious entry was originally slated to open in 2019, that movie has been pushed back in favor of this new spinoff idea. The chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham was obvious in the recent The Fate of the Furious, leading many fans to practically demand a spinoff movie.

With David Leitch on board to direct Hobbs & Shaw, we can feel pretty confident that the action will be top notch. Leitch, who brough us the original John Wick and Atomic Blonde, has proven to be one of the best action directors working today and just the idea of what he might be able to pull off with a pair of actors like Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson is exciting. It's clear the spinoff is looking to create a unique movie that won't simply feel like another Fast and Furious film. We can rest assured that we'll be getting more of those down the line.
