Avengers: Endgame Officially Is Opening Sooner Than We Thought
We're in the endgame now, and Marvel just officially changed when it arrives. Avengers 4 can finally be called something other than Avengers 4. Avengers: Endgame just shared its first trailer, and title, very early Friday morning.
There was so much to see -- Tony Stark alone in space dreaming about Ms. Potts, Hawkeye finally returns, Scott Lang at the door -- you might've missed the very end word.
April.
April means the official U.S. release date of May 3, 2019 has changed. Marvel Studios made the new date of April 26 official later on the morning of December 7 with this poster:
This was always considered not only a possibility, but likely. Avengers: Endgame already had a release date of April 26, 2019 in the U.K. and other locations. Marvel Studios was likely to change it to give us all Endgame at the same time. The trailer did not include April 26, but the poster confirmed that date.
There were several hints that this would happen. For one, Marvel did the same thing with Avengers: Infinity War, moving it from its initial release date of May 4, 2018 to April 27. Also, earlier this year, IMAX's 10Q financial report listed Avengers 4 as scheduled for April 2019.
So that means Avengers: Endgame will be coming out just one month (a month-and-a-half, but still) after Captain Marvel. They really are fraternal twins. Brie Larson's Captain Marvel just released its second trailer, and it seems to be keeping its release date of March 8, 2019. We know Carol Danvers will be very much tied to the story of Avengers: Endgame, although the first trailer kept that connection quiet, focusing on the fallen and surviving Avengers we already know.

Now that Avengers: Endgame is officially arriving in April, it will compete against (no one, it will crush everything) Shazam! Pet Sematary, Hellboy, Penguins, and The Curse of La Llorona. It is giving Pokemon: Detective Pikachu some slight breathing room, since that film is scheduled for May 10. May 17 brings John Wick: Chapter 3, and the rest of May has Aladdin and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
So you can see how packed this spring is going to be. Save your pennies now, 'cause you'll probably want to see everything right away. And don't forget that the next Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, isn't far behind these guys.
Tom Holland's second Spider-Man solo movie opens July 5, 2019. Peter Parker was infamously taken down by Thanos' snap, after telling Mr. Stark he didn't feel so good. So Avengers 4 is going to have to explain how we see Peter Parker again, on vacation in Europe. That movie will launch Phase 4 of the MCU.
As the sun now stands, we still have a few weeks left to 2018. Here's what's still ahead in movie theaters this year, and bookmark this 2019 release date beast because it is going to save your life when you try to keep up with all the blockbusters (and indies, we love you too) of 2019.

She went to three different middle schools, four high schools, and three universities -- including half a year in Perth, Western Australia.
