Yes, That Avengers: Endgame Line Helped Boost Build-A-Bear Sales

Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame.

Over the years, The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become known for its comedy. Each new blockbuster balances action and drama with moments of levity, which help buoy the movies and bring them back to reality. Avengers: Endgame was certainly no exception, and plenty of those comedic moments were caused by Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon.

One of these moments happened shortly after Tony Stark and Nebula were rescued, and brought back to Earth thanks to Captain Marvel finding The Benatar. Safe in the Avengers Facility, Rocket startles Iron Man, who said "Honestly, at this exact second, I thought you were a Build-A-Bear." Rocket replies that maybe he is, and it's one of the many scenes that acknowledges Rocket's strange presence on Earth. And now it looks like that Endgame scene has boosted sales for the stuffed animal company.

Build-A-Bear CEO Sharon Price John directly addressed the company's inclusion in Avengers: Endgame, affirming that it helped boost sales in the wake of the blockbuster's release. On a conference call that was captured by Seeking Alpha, Price John addressed the quick nod in Endgame, saying:

(The sales) were further enhanced by Marvel's generous and welcome to nod to Build-A-Bear in the movie's first 10 minutes. That's just one more example of Build-A-Bear's top culture presence and power.

It turns out all you need is one quick aside from Tony Stark, and moviegoers will start running to your place of business. At least that was the case with Build-A-Bear, which helped enhance the company's sales in April and June. And if the CEO is presenting on the topic during meetings, it was must have been a significant pop in sales.

Marvel fans who made their way to the local Build-A-Bear weren't disappointed, either. The company has a variety of Marvel-themed products, both accessories and physical teddy bears. You can get a stuffed Thanos, as well as bears that are themed around Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Thor, and Spider-Man. So if Tony's dialogue with Rocket inspired you to get to a store, there was plenty of prime merch to take home in the process.

If Build-A-Bear saw a boost in sales as a result of Avengers: Endgame, I have to wonder how any other products did that were mentioned throughout The Russo Brothers' massively successful movie. For instance, there was a big shout out to Axe Body Spray during the Time Heist. When Ant-Man dove into the shirt of 2012 Tony, he noticed the deodorant on Iron Man's person. RDJ's character says its only for emergencies, and the scene moves on. So did Axe also experience a boost in sales from Endgame?

Axe Body Spray hasn't made any statements one way or the other, but Build-A-Bear's boost in sales shows how big of a pop culture moment Avengers: Endgame truly was. We'll just have to wait and see how the MCU continues on in the wake of Endgame's contents.
