Trolls World Tour Trailer: Justin Timberlake And Anna Kendrick Are Back

Following the success of Trolls in 2016, DreamWorks “can’t stop this feeling!” Princess Poppy, Branch and the gang are heading back to theaters next spring for another animated adventure. This time, the music-infused film will expand the established universe by introducing audiences to new “troll tribes”, each representing different genres of music.

Check out the newly released trailer for the upcoming sequel: Trolls World Tour below:

Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake are back as the unlikely troll friends Poppy and Branch to take down a hard-rocking troll who seeks to take down all other music styles. It looks like the first movie centered on the “Pop” tribe (hence the name Poppy!) and this movie will explore the five other kinds of trolls: funk, classical, techno, country and rock.

Each tribe has a string that represents their identities and Queen Barb, played by Crazy Ex-Girlfriend creator and star Rachel Bloom will try to collect them all and destroy them, so rock music will dominate the world’s ears. So… she’s kind of like a punk-rock Thanos, but she’s gathering up strings for her guitar instead of stones for the Infinity Gauntlet.

Poppy comes up with a plan to unite the tribes together up against Queen Barb and her father, King Thrash (Ozzy Osbourne) while as usual Branch doubts her abilities to win without showing some muscle. Poppy quips that her arms are great weapons… for hugging!

The ever-negative JT character says her plan will blow up in her face and he’s seemingly right as the Trolls World Tour trailer shows their interactions with the Country clan lead by Kelly Clarkson, Sam Rockwell and Flula Borg start off hostile.

The pop trolls will also run into the voice talents of Mary J. Blige, George Clinton and Anderson .Paak in the funk tribe. World-famous conductor and violinist Gustavo Dudamel will play Trollzart and Charlyne Yi, Pennywhistle for the classical trolls. Anthony Ramos will be the main Techno troll.

The trailer closes out with Kunal Nayyar’s body-confident and glittery character, Guy Diamond having a baby named Tiny, who is a hip-hop troll! He’s voiced by Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson. Looks like Trolls World Tour has amped up the talent to bring out a bunch of exciting tunes of different genres and potentially mash them up as well?

Justin Timberlake has more original songs up his sleeve for this Trolls sequel after earning an Oscar nomination for the summer hit “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” featured in the 2016 flick. Trolls World Tour is helmed by Trolls director Walt Dohrn and David P. Smith. Co-writers Jonathan Aibel and Gleen Berger also have returned to pen the script.

Trolls World Tour is still quite a ways away! The animated movie will come to theaters on April 17, 2020.
