Looks Like Jumanji 3’s Title Was Leaked
In 2017, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle reinvigorated a ‘90s classic by enlisting the talented Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan as video game avatars embodied by a group of teens who dust off the adventure while in detention. After the action-comedy scored $962 million worldwide, it inspired an upcoming follow-up. After we’ve been calling it simply Jumanji 3 for sometime - the official title may leaked.
It may be called Jumanji: The Next Level, as Alberta Film Ratings revealed before later deleting it from their site. The leak also unveiled a 2:30 minute trailer coming just ahead of Spider-Man: Far From Home’s theatrical release. This would echo Sony’s marketing in 2017, where the first trailer for Welcome to the Jungle premiered alongside Spider-Man: Homecoming’s summer debut.
Jumanji: The Next Level certainly sounds like a fitting title for the sequel. Kevin Hart even alluded to it while talking about the movie a few months back. Check out his words:
The same teens will somehow find themselves back in the game they had to work together to break out of in the 2017 film. This time they will find themselves in a new level of the game, with higher stakes to face this time around.
Jack Black also previously said that Karen Gillan’s Ruby Roundhouse evolves in the upcoming release and has even more “rad stuff” to do. Maybe the avatars receive character upgrades in the “next level” as many video games do?
The production for the third Jumanji film has seen an incredibly fast turnaround, ahead of their planned December 2019 release. The cast started filming in February and wrapped just last month. The filmmakers must have really been grinding in the editing room to make this trailer for Sony’s big summer release, since they’ve only had the full footage for a month.
During the filming of Jumanji, the cast has kept fans updated with their escapades in the desert, snowy mountains and jungles. The cast shot in the Navajo desert in New Mexico where they rode camels together and also had a leg of shooting in Atlanta. Calgery and Hawaii. What a whirlwind!
