Subscribe To New Birds Of Prey Poster Debuts Harley Quinn’s Pet Hyena Updates
The DC live-action universe has had a fascinating tenure in theaters, full of both peaks and valleys. But Warner Bros. seems to have found its footing following the disappointing performance of Justice League, as Shazam! and Aquaman both got great reviews and solid box office numbers. The next movie set within the shared universe is Cathy Yan's Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), which will bring Margot Robbie's titular villain back to theaters. Fans are eager to see the fan favorite Harley return to theaters, and a new poster revealed the first look at her signature pet Hyenas.
Harley Quinn debuted in Batman: The Animated Series, followed by a long tenure in comics. In most versions, the femme fatale has a pair of pet Hyenas named Bud and Lou. And it looks like they'll make their live-action debut with Birds of Prey. Check out a new poster for the DC flick, which shows Harley with her laughing and dangerous pet.
It's unclear which of Harley's Hyenas this is, but seeing the femme fatale with the animal is enough to get hardcore Batman excited for Birds of Prey. Gotham City is being expanded greatly in the upcoming ensemble film, and that includes Harley's furry protectors.
This new poster comes from Birds of Prey official Instagram page. The upcoming blockbuster's full trailer is arriving tomorrow, so a series of posters were revealed in order to hype up the movie ahead of that reveal. This one certainly succeeds, teasing much more of Margot Robbie's signature villain in her second appearance in the DC Extended Universe. Although just what to expect from the upcoming movie is largely a mystery.
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn) might not hit theaters for a few months, but marketing for the upcoming blockbuster has been methodically raising anticipation. It all started with a video of test footage, which arrived as Cathy Yan's movie was starting filming. A quick tease also accompanied the theatrical release of IT Chapter Two, although it was never released online.
Our first significant look at Birds of Prey will arrive shortly, with any reveals having the potential to blow the minds of DC fans out there. Gotham City and its denizens are some of DC's most popular characters, given all the Bat-fans out there. In addition to Harley and her hyenas (yay!), Cathy Yan's female-focused superhero movie will also include Black Mask, Huntress, Victor Zsasz, Renee Montoya, and Black Canary. So while Ben Affleck has left his role as Batman, the character's allies and adversaries are still helping to populate the shared universe.
I'm eager to see exactly how Harley factors into the story of good vs evil in Birds of Prey. She's a villain by trade, but Margot Robbie was passionate about the movie giving Harley some real friends. As such, she may see herself become a reluctant hero, after getting that companionship from heroic characters like Huntress. But she'll also interact with Gotham city criminals like Black Mask and Zsasz, so smart money says she pivots between the forces of Good and Evil during the movie.
All will be revealed when Birds of Prey (and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) arrives in theaters on February 7th. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
