Tessa and Hardin’s romantic saga is far from over following After We Collided. The story that all started on the pages of a Wattpad before becoming best-selling novels will soon continue on the big screen with the release of the third film, After We Fell. Ahead of its release, we’re ready to spill all the details we know about the next installment in the popular After movies.

Unlike many franchises tipped off balance by the pandemic, the After movie has stayed on schedule, with After We Collided finding its way in theaters around the world last September before landing on Netflix. Coming in hot this fall is After We Fell, which will mark three of four After movie adaptations.

After We Fell Is Set To Be Released On September 30, 2021

After We Fell has an official date on the theatrical calendar for this September 30, 2021, about eleven months after After We Collided’s late October 2020 release. The movie was filmed last fall during COVID-19 alongside the fourth film After Ever Happy, which wrapped back in December.

After We Fell will open one week after Dear Evan Hansen and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and just ahead of a major weekend for animation, as sequels for The Addams Family and Hotel Transylvania hit theaters alongside the Sopranos prequel, The Many Saints of Newark. The romance is unlike anything else that’ll be showing, leaving room for another big weekend for fan turnout.

After We Fell’s Cast Includes The Return Of Josephine Langford And Hero Fiennes Tiffin

After We Fell will once again star Josephine Langford as Tessa and Hero Fiennes Tiffin as college sweethearts with a steamy, but continuous relationship. The pair will deal with problems related to Tessa pursuing her dreams with the Seattle opportunity she was given at the end of After We Collided and following her passions with Hardin.

Also, among the cast is Carter Jenkins in the role of Robert, who will pose as an alluring distraction in the middle of the couple’s heated fighting. Louise Lombard will reprise her role as Trish, the mother of Hardin, along with Rob Estes coming back to play his father, Ken Scott.

Multiple Supporting Actors Have Been Switched Around

However, fans of the movies may find themselves a bit confused when it comes to the supporting characters, considering a number of them have been recast with other actors for After We Fell. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actor Chance Perdomo is stepping in to play the character of Landon after Shane Paul McGhie played him in the prior movies.

Additionally, Landon’s mother, Karen, will be played by Frances Turner after previously being played by Karimah Westbrook and Jennifer Beals in the two other movies. Tessa’s co-worker Kimberly, previously played by The Vampire Diaries’ Candice King has been replaced by Arielle Kebbel. Selma Blair's role of Tessa's mother has been recast to be played by Mira Sorvino. That’s a lot of cast changes for a franchise – luckily they were not the main characters.

Dylan Sprouse Will Not Be Returning For After We Fell

In After We Collided, the franchise introduced a key character to Tessa’s publishing job with Dylan Sprouse’s character of Trevor. He is the opposite of Hardin in almost every way and we’d imagine if Tessa was going to take the Seattle job he might continue to be prevalent in the story, yet it has been confirmed by Sprouse himself that Trevor will not be continuing for After We Fell or After Ever Happy.

Back in October of last year, the former Disney Channel star took to Instagram to share that Trevor would not have a role in the next movie (via Metro) much to many fans' devastation. The franchise won’t be the same without Trevor on board, but we still have Hessa to root for.

After We Fell Will Explore Deeper Secrets About Hardin And Tessa’s Family

Along with After We Fell focusing on Tessa and Hardin’s continued romance as it hits a rough patch, fans can expect to learn more about Hardin’s backstory. It was teased in the trailer that there are more dark secrets to be unveiled. Hardin is seen having a physical altercation with his father in the first look along with sitting with him at a bar.

Fans of the books will also know that After We Fell is also a major moment for Tessa and her family following her long-lost father of nine years coming back into her life. In between the romance of After We Fell, we’ll expect some family drama to be going down at the same time.

After We Fell And After Ever Happy Is Directed By Castille Landon

After We Fell will welcome a new After director with newcomer Castille Landon taking up the mantle for not only the third installment but the coming conclusion, After Ever Happy. The torch was passed by Roger Kumble, who helmed After We Collided following Jenny Gage fronting the first film. Kumble shared to CinemaBlend his excitement for a female director taking on the franchise for the last two movies.

In addition to Landon taking over on the After movies, she has shared that she’s been having so much fun in Anna Todd’s world, that she’ll write two spinoff After films after finishing up the main series.

After Writer Anna Todd Is Taking A Step Back From The Franchise

The After films wouldn’t have been made without the mind of Anna Todd, who crafted the original stories on Wattpad before becoming a young bestselling author. The writer has been a hands-on collaborator for the After movies thus far, serving as a producer for the first two movies and even co-writing the screenplay for After We Collided with Mario Celaya. However, for After We Fell, there is no indication that Todd is playing an active role in the production as she is not a producer on the film and stepped back from writing credits, with Sharon Soboil having written it instead.

Time will tell how the absence of Anna Todd affects the production of After We Fell. Now that you’re ready for the next After movie, check out what other 2021 movie premiere dates are coming up here on CinemaBlend.
