Marvel’s Mark Ruffalo Responds To TikTok’s Milk Crate Challenge In The Perfect Way

Every now and then, a “challenge” will pop up on social media that’s all the rage for a brief period, whether it’s for a worthy cause (like the ice bucket challenge) or done purely for entertainment reasons (I’m thinking back to the cinnamon challenge days). As an example of the latter, the milk crate challenge, which sees participants carefully navigating a pyramid made of stacked plastic milk crates is currently taking TikTok by storm. Well, Mark Ruffalo has responded to this viral trend by channeling his Marvel Cinematic Universe character, The Hulk.

For those of you who’ve been wondering if Hulk will be getting in on the milk crate challenge action in the MCU, Ruffalo has revealed that won’t be happening for one important reason. Here’s how the actor articulated this on Twitter:

Yes, as we learned during Avengers: Endgame, Hulk is not a fan of stairs, and he unfortunately had to walk down a lot of flights of them after Loki was defeated in the Battle of New York due to the elevator reaching maximum occupancy. By the time he reached the ground floor of what was Stark Tower at the time, he was in a bad mood, and unfortunately for the Tony Stark who was taking part in the Time Heist, he was on the other side of the door the Green Goliath slammed open. That cascaded into a bunch of other problems we don’t need to go over here.

The point being, Hulk hates stairs, so asking him to do the milk crate challenge is a lesson in futility. Besides, with his massive size, there’s no way those crates could support him. In all seriousness, for those of you haven’t watched any milk crate challenge videos yet, it probably goes without saying that this is a dangerous activity, with most of these videos ending with the person falling and injuring themselves. So you’re probably better off following in Hulk’s footsteps by avoiding climbing up a pyramid of milks crates, even if the reasons for doing so aren’t the same.

Now granted, Hulk’s hatred of stairs was at a time where he and Bruce Banner were two separate personalities. Nowadays in the MCU, these two are now one being, with Bruce’s intellect and personality permanently residing in Hulk’s body. So presumably Smart Hulk doesn’t have the same aversion to stairs that his earlier self did… or if he does, he at least wouldn’t react so angrily about having to walk up or down him.

Mark Ruffalo will reprise The Hulk in Disney+’s She-Hulk series, which will see Bruce Banner’s cousin, Jennifer Walters, transforming into a similar kind of large, green-skinned powerhouse.
