Kevin Smith Reveals 50 LB Weight Loss 6 Months After Heart Attack

Kevin Smith is looking like a new man. In February, the comedic filmmaker had a massive heart attack at a stand-up gig, which eventually became the Showtime special Kevin Smith: Silent But Deadly. It was a near-fatal health scare, and one that forced Smith to re-evaluate his life and health after the experience. More specifically, his doctor told him that he needed to lose 50 pounds, a process that Smith hasn't been shy about sharing and discussing with his fans. Now, Smith has completed his goal (and then some). The comic book-loving super nerd revealed that, exactly six months after his medical ordeal, he has officially lost 51 pounds. Here are the photos to prove it.

Keeping with his famous sense of humor, Kevin Smith can be seen rocking one of his signature "Fatman" t-shirts as he spills the news to his Instagram followers. When Kevin Smith started his weight loss journey, he claims that he was 256 pounds. Now, however, he is a slim 205, and he looks happy to be slimmer than he's been in years. Plus, he's not finished yet. The Clerks writer and director claims that he's looking to lose another 10 pounds thanks to Weight Watchers in order to get down to his "birth weight" of 195, but that goal is for for another day. Today, Kevin Smith is very happy to complete his health milestone.

Since he announced that he was trimming the fat, Kevin Smith revealed that the sources of his weight loss journey begin with Penn Jillette's book, Presto!: How I Made Over 100 Pounds Disappear and Other Magical Tales. He credits the book as fueling his persistence to lose weight and providing tips on how to shed the pounds. But that's not all. In addition to thanking the people at Weight Watchers, Smith also credits his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, as the person who helped explored "this meatless/milkless galaxy" with the cult-favorite writer-director. Clearly, this journey does not belong to just one person. Kevin Smith had a whole team of people helping him lose the weight and keep it off, and he appears to be enormously grateful for all the people who helped him transition into this body weight.

Congratulations to Kevin Smith on your latest accomplishment! We're happy for your recent success. Meanwhile, while Smith is slimmer than before, he isn't cutting back on his workload anytime soon. The filmmaker is keeping busy with a variety of different projects in the works, including another Jay and Silent Bob movie which is currently titled Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. That sequel to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is expected to move forward soon, and Smith is also keeping himself busy with his involvement with The Flash, his various podcasts and several more projects currently fighting for his attention. Smith is busier-than-ever these days, and he's also healthier than before, too.
