Microsoft Surface Musical Commercial Shows Off Kickstand And Colorful Keyboard Touch Covers
In anticipation of the release of their new tablet, the Surface, Microsoft has put out a fun video add that creatively uses some of the device's most exciting features in a rhythmic musical number. Check out the video ahead to see the kickstand and the Touch Cover put to good use.
Below is the Surface Movement ad, which does a great job of grabbing our attention through music and dance, and by showing off some of the more eye-catching features of this device. The video went up on October 15 and has already racked up almost 700,000 views.
I love my iPad, and I'm by no means considering switching tablets anytime soon, but I'm going to admit, watching the above ad makes me wish my iPad had a clicky (and sturdy) kickstand and a smart cover that's also a keyboard. Good on Microsoft for playing up the Surface's exterior features in this ad and by using music to do it. It's likely that the more Windows-savvy tablet consumers will already be excited to get their hands on a Surface. And, like the iPad, there are likely to be many business-related uses for this device, which Microsoft will want to show off. But this ad seems to aim more for the fun, personal side of tablet use and hopefully some mainstream attention to give the iPad a real run for its money.
The Touch Cover is a great accessory to focus on. Of course, that fancy Touch Cover will set you back an additional $119.99 - $129.99 on top of the $499 for the 32 GB device. You can pre-order the 32 GB Surface with the black Touch Cover for $599.00, which would save you a few bucks.
The Surface includes a full-size USB port, microSD card slot and HD video out port, which allows you to transfer files or use whatever compatible accessories there might be. 32 GB or 64 GB of storage (though some reports say you'll get significantly less than that in actuality). There are also a number of apps included. The Surface with Windows RT includes Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 RT Preview1 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote); Windows Mail and Messaging; SkyDrive; Internet Explorer 10; Bing; Xbox Music, Video, and Games. Surface with Windows 8 Pro runs the current Windows 7 desktop programs allows you to use the programs and apps at the Windows store. It also comes with Windows Mail and Messaging; SkyDrive; Internet Explorer 10; Bing; Xbox Music, Video, and Games. More information on the Surface can be found at Microsoft.com.
The Surface arrives October 26.
