One Track Sunday: will.i.am Shows Off His Great Gatsby Dance Moves

The Great Gatsby has been all over the news for weeks, thanks to a flashy marketing campaign and a better than expected box office take in its first weekend. Also featured in the movie is an outstanding soundtrack featuring the likes of Jay-Z, Beyonce, Lana Del Ray, and will.i.am. It’s the latter who put together a music video for a Gatsby track this week.

The official music video for “Bang Bang” is a throwback to twenties film, with a sepia coloring and an old school coordination of dance moves. I really like that the Interscope Records video looks aged, as if years of watching has caused certain blips and deformities. Additionally, the coordinated dance moves may have gone a little bit out of fashion with boy bands, but the Roaring Twenties dances suit the song perfectly, and I even think the timed knee slaps are perfect for the track. Even when the lyrics are occasionally wanting (Shoutouts to “Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo,” really?), it’s still a fun track.

The former Black Eyed Peas singer has been pretty busy lately, signing on to The X Factor to help Spears pick her team this fall, teaming up with the singer to put out a single, and more recently opting to work with Spears on her upcoming eighth studio album. If you’re looking for a will.i.am project that isn’t Spears-oriented, “Bang Bang,” is a pretty good place to delve in. You can order The Great Gatsby soundtrack over at iTunes.
