Would You Watch A Man Of Steel Porn Parody?

Clark Kent has had a pretty good summer. Man Of Steel grossed more than six hundred million dollars worldwide. The new Batman vs Superman film was easily the most buzzed about tease at this year’s Comic Con and perhaps most importantly, Man Of Steel XXX: A Porn Parody is widely expected to be one of the biggest adult movies released this year. Okay, maybe that “perhaps most importantly” was a bit misplaced, but for an industry that’s shedding revenue ($7 billion last year, down from a high of $12 billion), entry into the superhero genre could prove a lifesaver.

Once upon a time, porn movies were very low budget. The plots were extremely thin and anything with costumes fell into a subheading, directed at only the geekiest of XXX viewers. In recent years, however, large companies such as Vivid have started pouring money into large scale superhero parodies with an eye toward attracting a very wide fan base, some of whom might not typically be porn customers. According to the Associated Press, the scheme has worked pretty well too. Apart from celebrity sex tapes, the superhero spoofs are typically the best selling videos each year.

On the one hand, the idea of watching a superhero movie for the purpose of getting sexually aroused seems a bit ludicrous. Between the costumes, the larger than life stories and the elaborate sets, it’s just a bit goofy. After all, while there’s almost always a love interest in superhero movies, there’s very rarely any sex scenes. Certainly, apart from Watchmen, there’s really not very many graphic sex scenes. On the other hand, however, there’s something that’s a bit erotic about saving someone’s life, about power and about special abilities. There’s something about a superhero happy ending that seems like it should come with the other type of happy ending.

I’m not the type to drop a large amount of money on a pornographic movie, but there’s something intriguing about the idea of watching one of these superhero parodies. If I came home and it was suddenly saved on my DVR box for no inexplicable reason, I think I would actually sit down and watch it. What about you? Would you watch a superhero porn parody?
