Subscribe To Arrow's Stephen Amell And More Celebs Heading To American Ninja Warrior Special Updates
Break out your clown nose because NBC's Red Nose Day is going to be hype! While the Brits already had their celebration, the Americans look like they're upping the ante with hours of entertainment you don't want to miss. Among many other things, viewers will get to see celebrities like Arrow's Stephen Amell, Today's Natalie Morales, and former Olympian Ashton Eaton compete on a very special episode of American Ninja Warrior.
Beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT this special celebrity edition of American Ninja Warrior will usher in the first hour of NBC's Red Nose Day, which happens May 25th. It's a strong start as I'm already eager to see just how much of a parkour beast Stephen Amell is when he doesn't have Hollywood editing helping him! The entire night of programming on NBC will center around donating to Red Nose Day, which is a foundation that works to end child poverty. This will be the third annual event for NBC, but Red Nose Day has been running in the UK since the '80s.
Each competing celebrity will be partnered with an American Ninja Warrior coach, and that list is comprised of some of the greatest contestants to ever appear on the series. The full lineup with celebrities and their coaches is as follows: Stephen Amell (Kacy Catanzaro), Erika Christensen (Flip Rodriguez), Ashton Eaton (Kevin Bull), Natalie Morales (Grant McCartney), Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher (Drew Drechsel), Mena Suvari (Natalie Duran), Nikki Glaser (Jessie Graff), Jeff Dye (Megan Martin), and Derek Hough (Daniel Gil). That's quite a stacked list of celebrities, but I'm not seeing anyone getting further than Amell, especially when he has the only woman to ever complete the course, Kacy Catanzaro, giving him tips. Then again, all these celebrities are in relatively good shape, so you have to imagine they wouldn't be a part of this thing if they didn't stand SOME chance on the obstacle course.
I suppose charity and promotion are a good motivator as well. Guys like Derek Hough, who has a new show (World Of Dance) on the horizon, will likely see some added benefit in addition to the fun they're having and the charity they're helping. No word on whether or not this celebrity course for the Celebrity Ninja Warrior For Red Nose Day will be any different than the usual course, but the warped wall and floating steps are specifically mentioned in the press release. I would imagine the warped wall would be impossible enough, so I'll give them all credit for any challenges they manage to complete!
Once concluded, those watching Celebrity Ninja Warrior For Red Nose Day will see Julia Roberts and Bear Grylls tackle the wilderness, followed by Chris Hardwick hosting the main Red Nose Day Special to wrap up the night. Basically, you're going to want to clear your schedule for May 25th, because all of this sounds amazing! To think I was jealous when I heard the UK got the unofficial Love Actually sequel short! Mark your calendar for Red Nose Day, and bide your time with the content on our midseason premiere guide and summer premiere schedule.
