The Arrangement Renewed For Season 2 By E!
Call your contract husband and add a clause for more episodes of The Arrangement as Season 2 is officially happening. E! announced today that the bizarre tale of actress Megan Morrison and her legally binding relationship with A-List actor Kyle West will officially return for Season 2. While we can't confirm or deny any couch jumping on talk shows, we do have a few details we can share.
Season 2 of The Arrangement will feature 10 one-hour episodes, which is the same as the currently airing Season 1. The renewal comes ahead of episode 7 of the series which is set to air this Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on the E! Network. Season 2 will look to continue the storyline of the ongoing contract marriage between actress Megan Morrison (Christine Evangelista) and Kyle West (Josh Henderson), with teases to reveal the darker underbelly of Hollywood. Considering the real world parallels of The Arrangement, you have to wonder what darker side of Hollywood the showrunners could be referring to!
In case you haven't made the connection yet, or maybe just clicked on in here to learn more about The Arrangement, this show is believed by some to be based on the former marriage of real-life actors Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. While I'm guessing no one with the show can legally say that (to the point they vehemently deny it), the similarities of a high profile star with a religion seemingly pulling the strings behind him paints a pretty clear picture to me.
Granted, very little is known about the former couple's actual marriage outside of bits and pieces shared by celebrities as well as others. Ultimately, the series is centered around the concept of a contract marriage, which is believed by some to be a common thing in Hollywood. If you're looking for proof regarding the existence of these types of Hollywood marriages, I'll save you the effort and say you won't find anything definitive.
As far as the reason for renewal, The Arrangement has averaged around 1.3 million viewers so far in Season 1. Some of those numbers could be retaining audience from the popular Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which consistently finds itself in the top ratings for Sunday night cable television. The Arrangement has found itself in the top 25 shows for that coveted 18-49 audience a couple times, but recent weeks have kept the scripted series off the board. It's also one of two original scripted series E! Network is currently running, with the other show being The Royals. While the numbers alone justify bringing it back for another season, that certainly helps as well.
You can catch a brand new episode of The Arrangement this Sunday at 10 p.m. ET on E! There's still a couple episodes of Season 1 to get through, so you should be able to catch up fairly quickly via on demand should you be behind. If you'd rather wait for Season 2, go ahead and busy up your time until then marking off some shows you'll want to catch on our midseason premiere guide and summer premiere schedule.
