Tina Fey is opening up about those persistent 30 Rock revival rumors. Fey was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when she discussed the lingering rumors that the NBC series may join the onslaught of series to receive the revival treatment. Fallon was the one who tentatively broached the subject, as the crowd went wild with the question. Fey's hilarious response shed light on where the possibility of a reboot actually stands. Here is what she said:

Well...So here's what I'll say. We were on the red carpet for the Broadway opening, and someone was like, 'Would you ever do a 30 Rock reboot, and I was like, 'Maybe-e-e-e.' A little bit of that is on me, like I must be so thirsty for Internet attention. It's either like, say yes to stuff like that, or I have to walk around CVS holding Poise Pads trying to get into Stars - They're Just Like Us. So thirsty for attention. . . . So you know, Robert Carlock and I, we would never do a straight reboot, because that would be too easy. So I don't know, we're trying to think of a way to do something. Should we do a prequel like Muppet Babies, or like set at a dystopian future where there's a lot of robot sex.

Tina Fey's admission on The Tonight Show may or may not mean we will see a 30 Rock revival. From the sound of things, we will probably not get a formal revival, if a revisit to the series happens. So do not expect a Will and Grace or Roseanne situation. However, it does sound like the show may reemerge in some form. Fey did indicate that she and one of the series' executive producers, Robert Carlock, want to do something a bit different if the show were revived.

What that could be is anyone's guess. Tina Fey's revival rumor revelation comes after 30 Rock actress Jane Krakowski expressed her enthusiasm over the show's potential return. Like Fey, Krakowski made her comments at the Broadway opening of Mean Girls. Krakowski shared her excitement with fans of the series that are ready to see the NBC series return, in one form or another.

The good news for fans is that while the prospects of a revival do not seem imminent, the door certainly does not sound closed to the possibility. Tina Fey clearly know there is interest in the project and where there is interest, well, there is interest. NBC has openly expressed their desire to revive both 30 Rock and The Office. It is the network's disclosure that sent speculation over each series' returns into overdrive.

While fans wait for an official green-light on a revival, they can enjoy seeing the 30 Rock cast in their current projects. As for Tina Fey, a month after Mean Girls' Broadway debut, she will host the May 19 episode of Saturday Night Live. Nicki Minaj will be the episode's musical guest. It will be Fey's sixth time hosting the show, or her fifth and a half. She co-hosted with Amy Poehler one of those times, which (as Fey mentioned to Jimmy Fallon) may be a new record.

Tina Fey's next film role will be in Amy Poehler's directorial debut Wine Country, a comedy for Netflix. The movie will reunite her with some of her former Saturday Night Live co-stars, including Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, and Maya Rudolph. The film follows a group of friends who take a weekend trip to Napa to celebrate someone's 50th birthday. A release date for the movie has not been announced.

So to recap, a 30 Rock revival could happen. Stay tuned to find out if it does. As for what else is coming up on TV, check out our guides to TV's midseason and summer premieres.
