Iron Fist is gearing up for Season 2, and now we finally know who new cast member Alice Eve is playing, along with when we can stream the new season. The actress will be taking on the role of Typhoid Mary for the sophomore season of the superhero drama, and it turns out we won't have long to wait for the new episodes to hit Netflix, as it'll be ready to go on September 7.
News came down tonight during the Iron Fist panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which was attended by CinemaBlend's own Laura Hurley, that Alice Eve would be taking on the role of the villainous Typhoid Mary during the new season. Eve, who was revealed to be a part of the Iron Fist Season 2 cast back in December, is known mostly for her role in Star Trek: Into Darkness in 2013.
Iron Fist has certainly given Danny Rand a meaty villain to deal with for Season 2. The Typhoid Mary known to Marvel Comics fans is actually just one of three distinct personalities that live within former brothel worker Mary Walker. While employed in that brothel, Mary was accidentally knocked out of a window by Daredevil. As a result her personality split, causing two new personalities as well as grave mental illness that leads to her not being totally in control of her actions. When Mary is at the fore, she's a timid pacifist who's very reserved; the Typhoid personality is violent but also lustful and quite adventurous; her Bloody Mary persona is...well, pure batshit with a nasty tendency toward sadistic brutality as a strong hatred of all men.
In addition to those already very scary attributes (because why wouldn't there be more?) all three have wonderful martial arts skills and actual superpowers. That's right, each Mary is capable of pyrokinesis (setting things ablaze without touching them) and telekinetic powers. So, you know, no biggie. I'm sure young Danny will have whatever situation comes up with Typhoid Mary taken care of in no time.
Season 2 of Iron Fist is shaping up to be quite the party, according to what was revealed in the Comic-Con panel and news that's been released over the past few months. Colleen Wing will be back and looks to be teaming up in some way with Luke Cage's Misty Knight. The Bulletproof Man himself will also be along for part of the ride in Season 2, and considering what Danny will be up against, it seems like that's a very good thing. The panel also gave attendees strong hints that Steel Serpent and Shou-Lao might show up in Season 2, as well.
We can all see how Danny Rand gets his unstoppable chi on when Season 2 of Iron Fist hits Netflix on September 7.
