Will Ian McShane Be In John Wick's Spinoff TV Series On The Continental?

Laurence Fishburne as The Bowery King and Ian McShane as Winston in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellu

If anyone should be in a John Wick TV series called The Continental, it's Winston, owner and manager of The Continental Hotel. Right? Well, maybe not. The spinoff headed to Starz is actually said to take place at the Los Angeles Continental hotel, as opposed to the New York hotel featured in the films. So it makes sense that Winston actor Ian McShane had this to say when asked if he'll appear in the TV series:

No. But I may give ’em a voice-over. A series, no. They talked about that.

A voice-over would probably be the perfect bridge between the John Wick films and The Continental TV series. Winston could still visit the Los Angeles hotel, but based on what Ian McShane told Rotten Tomatoes, a cameo is not quite in the cards at this point.

It's been a while since we've had solid updates on The Continental. Last we heard, the pilot episode would be shot by John Wick film director Chad Stahelski. John Wick himself, Keanu Reeves, was reportedly on board for at least a cameo at some point.

Other than that... we wait. Keanu Reeves' John Wick is definitely back in a couple of months with John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. Ian McShane's Winston is certainly in that movie -- along with Laurence Fishburne's The Bowery King, and the photo above shows they'll be hanging out together in John Wick 3.

John Wick ended Chapter 2 killing Santino in The Continental, which is a huge no-no, since the hotel is supposed to be neutral territory for the criminal underworld. John was declared "excommunicado." Winston gave John a one-hour head start, but in John Wick 3, Mr. Wick will be on the run, with a $14 million global contract out on his life. (Hopefully Halle Berry's new character Sofia can be of some assistance.)

Ian McShane told Rotten Tomatoes the High Table council of high-level crime lords "will be pissed off" and "very angry" in John Wick 3. However, he added that there would be a lot of "shifting alliances" in the movie. Winston seems to be sympathetic to "Jonathan," as he calls him in the trailer, but there's only so much he can do to help at this point.

When he's not busy promoting the John Wick franchise, Ian McShane is talking up his role in Hellboy, plus the long-awaited Deadwood movie coming to HBO this year, and American Gods Season 2, which is set to premiere March 10 on Starz.

We're still waiting for cast and premiere date details on The Continental, but keep up with everything we know about the John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum cast, plot, filming, and other details in our handy guide.
