The Vampire Diaries’ Kai Is Going To ‘Wreak Havoc’ On Legacies Season 2
Spoilers ahead for Episode 7 of Legacies Season 2, called "It Will All Be Painfully Clear Soon Enough."
The action picked up on Legacies in "It Will All Be Painfully Clear Soon Enough" as the truth came out about Professor Vardemus, who has always been Clarke in disguise. Meanwhile, the love triangle came to a head in an unexpected way, with Landon taking off (with Raf in tow) while Josie agreed with Hope that it was time for her to return to school. The episode ended with Clarke seemingly vanquished, the good guys back in charge of the Salvatore School, and Hope eating ice cream with the Saltzman twins. All good things, right? No evil uncles around to wreak any havoc, right?
Maybe not. Clarke's body was dragged to a mysterious figure under a red hood, seemingly on the grounds on the Salvatore School. If Clarke, seemingly the big bad of at least the first half of the season, isn't the one beneath the hood, could it be Kai Parker? Chris Wood is slated to return in the second half of Season 2, after all, and Legacies did keep the mysterious figure's hood up. Could this be Legacies' way of including Kai before Chris Wood is around for Kai to show his face?
Well, fans will have to wait until the new year to see Kai in the flesh, but Hope actress Danielle Rose Russell hyped his Legacies debut in a recent chat with TVLine, saying this:
Interesting! While Danielle Rose Russell didn't spill any plot details about what exactly will bring Kai into the mix (hopefully in the flesh and not via disappointing found footage), Vampire Diaries fans can rest assured that Kai hasn't exactly been tamed since being locked in another prison world. Wreaking havoc is what Kai does best, so why shouldn't that be his role on Legacies?
It's worth noting that Danielle Rose Russell apparently cited "scripts," as in plural, when teasing what's in store with Kai. Since Chris Wood was originally only announced to be returning for Episode 12 of Legacies Season 2, does this mean Russell's tease actually confirmed Wood back as Kai more than once? Or is she referring to Kai in the mix -- perhaps under a red hood obscuring his face -- without Wood? Or is there really only one Kai/Chris Wood episode and I'm overthinking Russell's word choice?
At this point, it's probably safe to say that Kai's return will have something to do with the Saltzman twins. His nieces are partially responsible for him winding up trapped in a prison world yet again, and the drive on the part of the entire family (including Caroline) to prevent The Merge from happening to Josie and Lizzie could result in the Saltzmans making contact with Kai. Then again, if the figure in the hood does prove to be Kai, then he was out and about long before any of the Saltzmans might have begun to think seriously about reaching out to the prison world.
