The Expanse Season 4 is finally docking on Amazon Prime Video this week! Naomi Nagata star Dominique Tipper revealed the scenes she's most excited for fans to see as the crew of the Rocinante heads to the new planet of Ilus ... or New Terra. The name of the planet is part of the Belters vs. Earthers drama of Season 4, which is based on the Expanse book Cibola Burn by James S. A. Corey.

One of the changes The Expanse Season 4 made from the books was to make sure Naomi joined the crew for their adventures on Ilus. As a Belter, it's no easy task for her to drop down a gravity well. And the Amazon series is going to show the grueling process it takes for her to get there, and show her interacting with some of the Belters and Earthers on Ilus. One of those characters is a Belter named Lucia (Rosa Gilmore).

Dominique Tipper mentioned Lucia when TV Insider asked about the aspects of Naomi's story she was most excited for fans to see this season:

I’m really excited for people to see her relationship with Lucia, who is played by Rosa Gilmore — how they relate in terms of what they’ve been through, and in terms of what Lucia’s going through, and how Naomi emphasizes with that. There’s a really beautiful scene in Episode 5 that I’m excited for people to see. Her journey on Ilus is really interesting, and her being in between this kind of Earther-vs.-Belter situation and how that plays out for her and how she chooses to go about it. I really enjoy it, and it very much speaks to who Naomi is and who she’s always been.

There are 10 episodes to The Expanse Season 4, so keep an eye out for that "beautiful" scene in Episode 5. I'm sure fans will know it when they see it.

Lucia is a character from The Expanse novels. Her husband Basia was actually mentioned previously in relation to Prax's storyline on Ganymede. Basia and Lucia's son Katoa shared the same immunity disorder as Prax's daughter Mei. Katoa was experimented on by Dr. Strickland and his body was later discovered by Prax and James Holden.

In the book, Basia and Lucia take their remaining children, Felcia and Jacek, to the new planet of Ilus once the Ring Gates open, as shown at the end of The Expanse Season 3. Lucia's storyline is changed a bit from the book to TV, like so many other little (or not-so-little) details.

Dominique Tipper also said she was interested in The Expanse fans seeing the element of vulnerability that comes from Naomi's physicality being challenged by the gravity of Ilus, because we’ve never really seen her like that before. She also added some nice teases for "Nolden" fans:

And also her being comfortable in her relationship with Holden, which I don’t think we’ve seen before. I think they have some of the most beautiful moments we’ve ever seen between them, and me and Steven [Strait] both really loved that about this season. I’m excited for ‘Nolden’ fans to see that, too!

The Expanse Season 4 will have several romances. Amos Burton (Wes Chatham) gets cozy with Wei (Jess Salgueiro), the right-hand-officer of Murtry, the chief of security for Royal Charter Energy who is essentially the big bad of the season. And Bobbie Draper (Frankie Adams) starts a relationship with a fellow Martian veteran. Here's more from Cas Anvar on what's next for Roci pilot Alex Kamal.

Also, for anyone wondering if we'll have more scenes between Naomi and her fellow badass Belter, Camina Drummer (Cara Gee), the answer from Dominique Tipper is...

Yes, we do. We definitely see an interaction between them, yeah! I just don’t want to say what that is.

Nice. TV Guide noted that someone from Naomi's past resurfaces this season with bold new ideas for the Belt's future. (Book readers can take that hint.) Because of that, the rift between the various Belter factions grows further and Drummer will find her loyalties tested in more than one way.

It should be a great season. As someone who has read up to the seventh book, Persepolis Rising, I'm curious about the changes from book to screen. I'm already loving the idea that Chrisjen Avasarala now has to run for office for the first time in a new storyline for The Expanse Season 4. That should be entertaining!

Miss Game Of Thrones' Jon Snow? Try The Expanse's James Holden

The Expanse Season 4 has 10 episodes and they are all scheduled to drop on December 13 on Amazon Prime Video. We won't get that cool creature from the fourth book, but there are so many other ways that Amazon taking over from Syfy was a gift to the series.

Keep up with everything premiering in early 2020 with our handy TV schedule.
