Stephen Amell’s dedication to The CW's Arrow did not take a break over Christmas. When one has played Oliver Queen for eight seasons, it is tough to take a holiday, even after the show has officially finished filming. Proving how much Oliver’s blood runs through his veins, Amell spent Christmas watching an incredibly pivotal installment of Arrow. He was not alone, though!

To celebrate one of the most wonderful times of the year, Stephen Amell took part in viewing Arrow's final installment with a very special guest. Check it out:

Well, that is super intriguing! Stephen Amell told Twitter that he watched the series finale of Arrow with his mom! For reference, Arrow wrapped its final days of filming back in November, and a lot of heartfelt goodbyes soon followed. Whether or not the show’s finale marks the absolute end for Oliver Queen as a character is not spoiled by Amell’s tweet, thankfully.

That said, his mother clearly had an emotional reaction to watching her son’s long-running series come to an end. Is it because Stephen Amell’s mom knows all too well how much blood, sweat, tears, and effort he poured into Arrow? Or is it a far more upsetting reason for plot-based reasons, such as watching her son’s character die for good?

If Oliver Queen truly gets killed off in Arrow’s series finale, you would not expect Stephen Amell to watch said episode with his mom on Christmas of all days. That would be a real downer. Amell was really emotional heading into Arrow’s final episodes, which was an understandable reaction when saying goodbye to a show that he'd spent nearly a decade dedicating himself to.

The end is also near for fans, who will bid a fond farewell to the series in 2020. Arrow still has the rest of the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” to sift through before the finale. For those curious, the script for the final episode has a poignant title: “Fadeout.”

It will not be non-stop Oliver until that happens, however, since Stephen Amell will not appear in Arrow’s penultimate installment. The reason being that Arrow needs to set the stage for the backdoor pilot for its spinoff centering on Laurel Lance, Dinah Drake, and Oliver and Felicity's daughter Mia.

Fans can count on seeing Amell quite a bit on television after Arrow ends, though. The actor has readied himself well for his post-Arrow days. In August, Stephen Amell booked an exciting new TV project, as he'll star in the Starz wrestling drama Heels opposite VikingsAlexander Ludwig. (The two will play brothers in the series.) Amell also has a second TV show, Code 8, in the works where he'll co-star opposite his cousin and fellow Arrow-verse actor Robbie Amell.

Before long, fans will get a chance to see Arrow’s series finale. It left Stephen Amell’s mom feeling “not alright,” but will it have the same impact on fans? It seems like a safe bet. Amell did say that Arrow would have a “happy ending,” whatever that means, so here is to the fans finding out how that happens!

The Arrow-verse crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will continue next year on The CW. Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow will conclude the story this winter on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. You can currently stream past seasons of Arrow on Netflix, where it is set to be joined by many 2020 premieres.
