Several Haunting Of Hill House Cast Members Have Joined The Creator's New Netflix Horror

After all the acclaim and success that was warranted by Mike Flanagan's meticulously expansive adaptation of Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House, no one was questioning why Netflix set up an overall deal with the horror-focused filmmaker. Flanagan's next fully hands-on creation will be the horror series Midnight Mass, also set for Netflix. The show's full set of cast members was announced by the streaming service, and it includes a quartet of Hill House stars among the 16 actors listed.

Per the logline, Midnight Mass takes place in an isolated island community that beings experiencing both miraculous and terrifying events after a charismatic and mysterious young priest arrives. Let's take a look at the four former Haunting of Hill House cast members that will be part of Mike Flanagan's Midnight Mass on Netflix, before then branching out to everyone else.

Kate Siegel

First we have Kate Siegel, who is married to Mike Flanagan and is set to be a regular within Midnight Mass' first season. (Assuming it's meant to go more than seven episodes without killing everyone and everything.) She is one of three lead actors revealed for the show; unfortunately, though, no character information was shared indicating who she will be playing.

In The Haunting of Hill House, Kate Siegel portrayed the touch-sensitive sibling Theadora "Theo" Crain. The actress is also set to rejoin Flanagan in a professional sense for the "much scarier" adaptation The Haunting of Bly Manor, and worked with him on the films Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil and Gerald's Game, with two of those three being produced for Netflix.

Henry Thomas

Another actor that works with Mike Flanagan on a semi-regular basis, Henry Thomas will be reteaming with the writer/director for Midnight Mass, though it's not clear in what capacity, beyond the fact that it's not a starring role. Thomas took on the pivotal flashback edition role of family patriarch Hugh Crain within The Haunting of Hill House, which he nailed. Fans will also recognize him from Flanagan's Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald's Game and the unfortunate 2019 underperformer Doctor Sleep.

Annabeth Gish and Robert Longstreet

The Sons of Anarchy and Halt and Catch Fire vet Annabeth Gish and Robert Longstreet played recurring roles in The Haunting of Hill House as the neighbors the Dudleys who served as Hill House's caretakers. It looks like Gish and Longstreet will be taking on other recurring roles for Midnight Mass, and we can only hope that they're anywhere near as affecting and emotionally powerful as Mr. and Mrs. Dudley were. Just as it went with Kate Siegel's character, no further information was given.

Now that we've gone over the most familiar faces to Haunting of Hill House fans, let's go over the other two lead actors and the rest of the recurring additions to Midnight Mass.

Zach Gilford and Hamlish Linklater

Joining Kate Siegel as the second and third leads of Midnight Mass are Friday Night Lights vet Zach Gilford and Legion vet Hamlish Linklater. Gilford is no stranger to the horror genre, having starred in films such as Devil's Due and The Purge: Anarchy, though his TV work has fallen more into standard TV dramas such as NBC's Good Girls and the Bad Boys spinoff L.A.'s Finest.

For Hamlish Linklater, horror isn't a genre he's gone to very often, if at all, but the actor has had been in his share of dark roles. Legion and Fargo probably top the list as far as regulars go, since his work on sitcoms like The New Adventures of Old Christine and The Crazy Ones doesn't quite add up the same way.

Rounding out the cast for Midnight Mass will be Rahul Abburi (Good Game), Crystal Balint (The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco), Matt Biedel (Altered Carbon), Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes), Rahul Kohli (Supergirl), Kristin Lehman (Altered Carbon), Igby Rigney, Annarah Shephard, Samantha Sloyan, and Michael Trucco (Disjointed).

Production on Midnight Mass is set to start up in Spring 2020, and its release on Netflix will likely follow that of The Haunting of Bly Manor, which is set to premiere at some point before the end of the year.
