It's that most wonderful time of the year, and no, I'm not referring to kids jingle-belling or firewood smelling or Santa Claus yelling. I'm talking about the time of year when Rick and Morty delivers a moment that truly makes me want to turn my eyes inside out. I can't explain WHY it's a wonderful feeling, but that's just how it goes, and the most recent holiday video seen below definitely makes the cut thanks to a disturbing and sudden visual reference to How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Considering the video below is shorter than Squanchy, it's best for everyone to just hit the play button without knowing the specific Rick and Morty grossness awaiting you. Hit. That. Button.

Lo, these human holidays, Morty. You'd think they would be more comforting than non-human holidays – such as a rabid wolf holiday, or an equally rabid Plutonian holiday – but I guess people are the most capable beasts when it comes to disturbing other people. I mean, you could tell me that a 20-year-old package of rotted pudding created the above video and I would believe you, though in my (growing) heart of (growing) hearts, I would know that the guilt belongs to my fellow man.

Let's try and look at this bonkers video piece by piece. First, that animation style is keenly disturbing, with Rick and Morty's characters appearing as if they lack both proper bone structure and proper responses to gravity and wind resistance. Second, all of their eyeballs are in "Arnold Schwarzenegger on Mars in Total Recall" mode, which is so disturbing to see when their heads are cocked to the side. Third, the family's designs are so freakish. THE WHOLE DAMNED THING IS FREAKISH!

Okay, now let's focus on this outrageously ghoulish Morty on display here. He's showcased for less than ten seconds, but those ten seconds arguably have higher nightmare fuel flammability than anything that's ever appeared on Rick and Morty. I'm pretty sure I spent at least a week staring into Morty's scribble-mark eyeball abyss, and yet somehow I'm still here. (Or am eye?) It's almost hilariously innocent that the final Grinch transformation is incited by something as goofy as a boxing glove prank present. But nothing about this is innocent in the slightest.

Give 'em the Grinch face, Morty! Go! Go! Go!

The only thing that will be under my tree this Christmas is my huddled and cowering body, surrounded by piles of coal that are somehow giving off deep, resonating groans. Now that the Morty Grinch has been witness, there is no going back. For any of us. Remember when this show just did Star Wars gags?

The wait is on for Rick and Morty Season 5, which is expected to make its debut on Adult Swim at some point in 2021, with Space Beth making a return. While waiting for that, and for time to cease existing, head to our Winter and Spring TV premiere schedule to see what new and returning shows are popping up soon.
