The royal drama surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has held the interest of plenty of people on both sides of the pond, but the couple has largely kept their personal life private since relocating to the United States. Now, a scoop on Prince Harry may have hit the web from an unlikely source: 9-1-1: Lone Star leading man Rob Lowe. The actor says that he recently spotted the prince, and he spilled the beans on Harry's new hairdo.

Rob Lowe virtually stopped by The Late Late Show With James Corden this week, and he had some unexpected details to drop that had nothing to do with the second season of his Fox series. Saying that he "just ran into" Prince Harry "at the stoplight," Lowe shared the latest on Prince Harry's hair:

He lives about a mile from me. He’s been very reclusive. Seeing him in the neighborhood is like seeing the Loch Ness Monster. I finally saw him driving his car, and I may have a scoop. It was very, very quick, don’t totally quote me on it, but it looked like he’s wearing a ponytail… It looked to me, as a casual observer, that his hair had grown very long, and was pulled back very tightly by what I can only assume was a ponytail.

Based on Rob Lowe's unofficial "scoop" regarding Prince Harry's hair, nobody should be surprised that the ponytail that may or may not exist hasn't been splashed across the tabloids. If Prince Harry is like the "Loch Ness Monster," it's no wonder that nobody seems to have reported on the state of his hair until now! Personally, I have trouble imagining the prince with a ponytail, but quarantine has led a lot of people to forego haircuts for the sake of health. Good for Harry if he's following pandemic protocols!

Of course, I wasn't the only one who was dubious at Rob Lowe's report. The very English James Corden responding by saying that he's "certain that isn't true" and that he thinks Lowe "didn't see Prince Harry" at all. Lowe was quick to defend his stance that this was indeed Prince Harry, and not just a different redheaded man with a ponytail. Lowe explained why he's so confident, saying:

Oh no, it was him because I have to say, I followed him to the house to see if the car went in.

Well, that's one way to confirm whether or not a prince of the royal family is sporting a ponytail! For Prince Harry's sake (as well as Meghan Markle and their young son), I hope that few people are able to follow any of them to the house to confirm their identities, but this does support Rob Lowe's claim that Harry is sporting a ponytail. Whether or not Harry will be seen with a ponytail publicly is another matter entirely.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have quit social media in advance of a reunion with the Queen, which may mean repairing some broken bonds with the royal family after their abrupt departure and move to North America. Their deal with Netflix definitely doesn't mean that Harry will be starring in any original series to show off his current look, and Harry is reportedly hoping that The Crown will end before it catches up with the present.

For now, we can only wait and see if there is ever visual confirmation of Rob Lowe's report of a ponytail on Prince Harry. As for Rob Lowe, he'll return to the small screen on Monday, January 18 with the Season 2 premiere of 9-1-1: Lone Star on Fox at 9 p.m. ET, following the Season 4 premiere of 9-1-1.
