Jeopardy! has entered a new era in its illustrious history, as hosting duties have now been bestowed upon a revolving door of notable names, from former show champion Ken Jennings to Big Bang Theory alum Mayim Bialik. Still, both fans and the show’s employees can’t help but think about the life and legacy of the great Alex Trebek. The late host made quite an impression on people and, since his passing, numerous tributes have been penned in his honor. Most recently, his daughter, Nicky Trebek, penned a sweet message to mark the two-year anniversary of his cancer announcement.

From what we’ve seen in the past, Alex and Nicky Trebek shared a very special father/daughter relationship. The younger Trebek recently took to Instagram to share a picture of her and her dad together and, in the caption, she recalled the moment her father announced to the world that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer:

It was 2 years ago today while we were working on the @jeopardy set that my dad bravely stepped out in front of the camera to announce he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer He brought much-needed #awareness to this terrible disease and provided hope to so many struggling.

Trebek then went on to praise her father for the way he carried himself during his cancer battle. And she also made a powerful promise in his honor:

I’m beyond proud of him for his courage and integrity throughout his illness So I’m continuing what he started and will fight for everyone affected by pancreatic cancer.

Following this, Nicky Trebek took a moment to spotlight the work of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and encouraged her followers to donate to the organization. You can check out Trebek’s sweet post down below:

Many were shocked and saddened to learn of Alex Trebek’s cancer diagnosis back in early 2019. While the host didn’t sugarcoat the seriousness of the disease, he did express hope and a willingness to fight it to the best of his ability. He would indeed continue to do so, working to get back and working even harder when he was on the set again.

During his final Jeopardy! episodes, Alex Trebek continued to experience pain but, according to executive producer Michael Richards, Trebek was "a warrior." This was further evidenced by the powerful, posthumous messages he left his viewers with.

Nicky Trebek is certainly doing her father proud through her work with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Trebek may no longer be with us, but he will certainly live on for years to come, thanks to the efforts of people like his daughter as well as those who continue to share their fond memories of him.

Jeopardy!, which is currently being hosted by Katie Couric, airs in syndication daily.
