Kelly Clarkson has been have a troublesome year in several ways when it comes to her personal life, but the bubbly singer and relatively new talk show host is having a banner week when it comes to news to make her happy professionally. Two big things happened for Clarkson this week, which both involve The Kelly Clarkson Show: not only did the daytime talker receive a bunch of Emmy nominations, but it's also been chosen to takeover The Ellen Show's timeslot. Now Clarkson has opened up with a message for fans after her whirlwind of great news.
The Kelly Clarkson Show is only in its second season, but fans and critics alike have been high on the syndicated talk show pretty much since the beginning. Not only did Clarkson manage to come in fourth among syndicated daytime talk shows by just a few weeks into her freshman season, but that first year also nabbed she and her crew seven Daytime Emmy Awards, with three wins (including Clarkson being awarded Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host).
This week finds the show continuing its streak of praise for hard work, with a new round of Emmy nominations (six this time) and the series being chosen for Ellen's timeslot when that show is retired at the end of next season. So, what did Kelly Clarkson have to say to her dedicated fans? Take a look at her enthusiastic Instagram post!
First of all, awesome t-shirt, Ms. Clarkson! Second of all, awwww! I think that some of the things which people have always really liked about Kelly Clarkson, and which has helped to make her show such a hit in a very short time, comes through so well in this short thank you video she posted while on her lunch break. Clarkson has been known to be pretty unfiltered, but to also do it while being an effervescent treat to watch, and all of her joy and thanks for the Emmy nominations, NBC, and the many fans who've tuned in to her show really comes through exactly as one would expect it to here.
As Clarkson noted, she and the staff and crew who work on The Kelly Clarkson Show had already had a lot to celebrate in their first year, and you can tell it's been a joy to have that continue in Season 2. While that experience would certainly leave most people "mind-blown," I appreciate that Clarkson didn't just take time out to say thanks for herself, but for everyone who works on the show and is also probably in the middle of doing a lot of happy dancing that fans won't be able to see.
She also gave a special shout-out to NBC for being an amazing partner to work with on The Kelly Clarkson Show, and while she didn't specifically point out the majorly important timeslot change which will be coming for Season 4 in the fall of 2022, some of her thanks probably had a lot to do with it.
When Ellen DeGeneres made the (not so surprising) reveal just earlier this month that she'd decided to end her talk show after 19 years and a lot of very unfortunate recent controversy, people naturally wondered who would take over. Even though The Kelly Clarkson Show did seem to be the heir apparent, there were still other names bandied about, with popular comedian / actress Tiffany Haddish reportedly having been looked at to lead a brand new show which could have taken the slot.
There was some talk about how Clarkson's show has struggled a bit during the pandemic, and that possibly hurting its chances, but, clearly, any hesitation NBC bosses might have felt was outweighed by their faith in her and her show.
