We’re officially in the final weeks of The Kelly Clarkson Show, and while no exact air date has yet been announced for its final episode on the 2026 TV schedule, we do know that filming has already wrapped. There’s been surprisingly little fanfare leading up to the Emmy winner’s impending exit, and I admit I’m kind of in agreement with fans who are calling Kelly Clarkson’s last summer a “buzzkill.”
After months of speculation regarding whether or not Kelly Clarkson wanted to leave TV, the host confirmed in February that Season 7 would be the last hoorah for The Kelly Clarkson Show, as she takes a step back to spend more time with her children following the death of their father Brandon Blackstock. However, the summer’s episodes have been filled with guest hosts and re-runs, causing some fans to air their grievances on Instagram. They said:
- I wish they weren’t reruns. I want her to be there.
- Also yeah pretty sure another week of reruns.
- It feels like it’s already over. It’s not, I know. But the Summer of reruns has been a buzzkill.
- They said the Summer shows would be new, they lied.
- The show is ending, they said [there] would be new episodes to wrap it up.
I have to say, I understand where these fans are coming from. Thinking back to the end of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and other talk shows that have come to an end in recent years, there was a lot of hoopla around final guests and being sure to go out with a bang. Sure, The Kelly Clarkson Show is up for more Daytime Emmy Awards, but I think fans are more concerned that Kelly Clarkson isn’t even hosting all of her final episodes.
As one commenter said, it kind of feels like the talk show has already ended. Kelly Clarkson is living it up with her Studio Sessions residency in Las Vegas, talking about no more NBC HR meetings and celebrating the joys of being single and even giving TMI with her tales from the bathroom.
We’re also already looking ahead to September, when she’ll return as a coach on The Voice. Stories have been circulating for weeks about her trash-talking new Season 30 mentor Riley Green.
We’ll just have to wait and see how many new episodes of The Kelly Clarkson Show we get — with Kelly Clarkson as the actual host — before the show officially comes to an end. Hopefully we will get a celebration worthy of the daytime talk show’s accomplishments, complete with notable final interviews, because the swan song summer has been pretty lackluster so far, at least in the eyes of the fans.
