Former That’s So Raven Star Has Been Charged For Sending Sexually Explicit Text To A Minor
For many, Kyle Massey was a staple of Disney Channel in the early 2000s. The actor rose to fame as the mischievous younger brother Cory Baxter on That’s So Raven and its spinoff follow-up Cory in the House. Now, it’s been reported that the former child star has been charged with allegedly sending sexually explicit content to a girl he’d reportedly known since she was four years old.
Kyle Massey was recently charged with one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes. TMZ has reportedly obtained legal documents claiming that police received a thumb drive from the girl’s mother, which contained sexually explicit content that Massey allegedly sent her daughter via Snapchat when she was 13 years old. According to authorities, the series of recordings include a pornographic clip and video showing a man, seemingly Massey, exposing his penis.
The case is reportedly connected to a 2019 civil suit, in which Kyle Massey was sued for $1.5 million for allegedly sending “numerous sexually explicit text messages, images, and videos”. Per the documents in TMZ’s possession, Massey sent the content to the minor via Snapchat during December 2018 and January 2019.
When reports of the civil suit first surfaced, Kyle Massey denied the allegations, claiming that he was being extorted. The actor said in a statement to TMZ at the time that the public “not to jump to conclusions based on the allegations alone but reserve judgment until the whole story comes to light, proving these allegations baseless.”
According to reports, the civil suit that was originally filed by the girl’s legal team yielded no results, as her lawyers told her that they did not think Massey possessed enough money to make the case worth pursuing. With this, she reportedly went to the Sheriff's Office to file a report, and police would eventually begin an investigation in 2020.
TMZ has attempted to reach Kyle Massey and his team for comment on the situation. But as of this writing neither has responded to requests for a statement.
Kyle Massey first began starring alongside Raven-Symoné on That’s So Raven back in 2003 and would remain on the show for the entirety of its four-season run. Following the show’s cancellation in 2007, his character moved to Cory in the House, though the show would end quietly in 2008. Massey has had roles in other Disney Channel shows like Fish Hooks and American Dragon: Jake Long and has appeared on reality competition and game shows like Dancing with the Stars and Family Feud.
