Kelly Clarkson Landed A Divorce Win, And Now It Seems There’s Worse News For Brandon Blackstock

Kelly Clarkson on the Kelly Clarkson Show

Over the last few weeks, Kelly Clarkson and her ex Brandon Blackstock have been working out some of the details of their bifurcated divorce in court. As part of this, Blackstock had been contesting the prenup he had signed in the hopes that assets and income derived during their marriage would be split instead. A judge disagreed and the prenup will stand. Unfortunately for Black Shelton’s former manager, it looks like Kelly Clarkson wants to sell the ranch he’s been staying at.

At the heart of the prenup back and forth has been the ranch in Montana that the couple had purchased and that Brandon Blackstock has been staying on after the split. If Blackstock had successfully argued that he was due a share in the assets accrued during the course of his marriage to the “Stronger” singer, then he would have been a part owner in the ranch. However, as things shook out, Clarkson is the owner and will be able to decide the ranch's fate.

Reportedly, Kelly Clarkson rakes in about $1.5 million dollars a month from varying enterprises, including her work on The Voice and The Kelly Clarkson Show. Reports also indicate Brandon Blackstock makes about $10K a month and will also be receiving $45,000 a month from Kelly Clarkson in the form of child support, plus an additional $150,000 in spousal support each month. It would be theoretically possible for Blackstock to support the alleged $81,000 upkeep of the Montana ranch with the money he’s being allotted. However, the major obstacle is that Clarkson owns the ranch and according to court filings obtained by TMZ, she’s wanted to sell for a while now.

A few months ago, the singer’s lawyer filed documents indicating that her client wanted to sell the Montana ranch. Her ex’s own lawyer objected, noting at the time the details of the prenuptial agreement had not been worked out yet. Well, now those details have been worked out and The Kelly Clarkson Show host will be able to sell.

Now, it’s hard telling whether or not Brandon Blackstock is going to play ball here. From the previous filings, it seems as if he would like to remain on the ranch and could make it hard for a realtor to show the property, etcetera if he wants to. Clarkson may need to go to court in order to get things really moving with the sale, though only time will tell how this particularly story ultimately plays out.

Meanwhile, while Brandon Blackstock did not get the prenup outcome he wanted, Kelly Clarkson did apparently celebrate the news after learning about it in an email while she was filming the upcoming season of NBC’s The Voice. The mentor on the series then took a little trip to Vegas over the weekend, so even if the ranch isn’t sold yet, she certainly seems to be happy with how the divorce has been playing out.
